Actress Meira Challenges Decision To Declare Marriage To Atiq-ur-Rehman In Lahore High Court
Meera appealed to the Lahore High Court against the decisions of the Family Court and Sessions Court. The Lahore High Court sought reply from all parties, including Atiq-ur-Rehman, by April 13.
It may be recalled that this month, Additional Sessions Judge Mazhar Abbas had issued a written verdict in the 16-page actress Meera Takzeeb Nikah case in which it was said that the actress had failed to declare the marriage certificate of Atiq-ur-Rehman as false.
The court decision said that the actress could not even prove the claim of denial of marriage in the family court.

According to the court decision, actress Meera was married to Atiq-ur-Rehman on September 2, 2007.
Meera did not present any witness who testified that the signature on the marriage certificate was forged. Actress Meera did not even file a request to compare the signatures on the marriage certificate.
It may be recalled that actress Meera had accused Atiq-ur-Rehman of forging a marriage certificate and had requested Atiq-ur-Rehman to declare the marriage certificate as false.
Earlier, the Family Court had also declared actress Meera as Atiq-ur-Rehman’s wife. However, Meera had filed an appeal against the decision of the Family Court. Additional Sessions Judge Mazhar Abbas also denied the verdict. The marriage application was rejected.
