Emirati police warned drivers against mistakes
Dubai: The United Arab Emirates Traffic Department has warned drivers that distraction while driving is a violation of traffic laws.
It has been said by the police that eating, drinking, smoking, applying make-up, using mobile phones while driving fall under the category of violating traffic rules. The police have clarified that any act while driving that diverts the driver’s attention from the road and any activity that distracts the onlookers from the road is a violation of traffic rules.
Abu Dhabi Police has warned that eating, drinking, using a mobile phone, applying make-up, smoking and engaging in other activities that divert attention from the road while driving are punishable by fines.
Drivers who violate the rules may face a fine of Dh800 and a deduction of 4 points.
