First ODI: Pakistan defeated Netherlands by 16 runs
Rotterdam: Pakistan defeated Netherlands by 16 runs in the first match of the ODI series.
In the match played in Rotterdam, the Netherlands team managed to score 298 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs in pursuit of 315 runs. On behalf of the host team, captain Scott Edwards remained unbeaten with 71 runs off 60 balls while Tom Cooper and Vikramjeet Singh returned to the pavilion with 65 and 65 runs respectively.
On behalf of Pakistani bowlers Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah took 3 and 3 wickets while Muhammad Wasim Jr and Muhammad Nawaz took 1 and 1 wickets. Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and batted first and scored 314 runs against the host team. In the beginning, the national batsmen appeared to be in trouble, opener Imamul Haq scored just 2 runs off 19 balls and returned to the pole.
Later, Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam batted cautiously to bring the score to 178. On this occasion, the captain returned to the pavilion after scoring 74 runs off 85 balls. Then Fakhar Zaman got out with a brilliant innings of 196 and 109 runs and stabilized the team’s position.
Newcomers Muhammad Rizwan 14, Khush Dil Shah 21 and Muhammad Nawaz left the pavilion scoring 4 runs, while Shadab Khan 48 and Salman Khan remained not out with 27 runs.
